Testing

The NHC has deep water simulation facilities capable of both manned and unmanned testing. A variety of hyperbaric pressure test vessels can be utilised to create depths of up to 8000m/26,300ft

The National Hyperbaric Centre is the only UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) approved hyperbaric test laboratory. This high standard requires operating procedures, test equipment, recording and monitoring to be regularly audited and re-approved. Other Test laboratories use the NHC to conduct their hyperbaric testing.

UKAS - Accreditation Certificate

Considerable investment in the variety and capacity of test vessels within the NHC has been made over the past 5 years, and will culminate in the plans to create the World’s largest and deepest hyperbaric test chamber - see article on 'The Future'.

The test chambers range from small, very high pressure vessels suitable for equipment testing of camera housings, and electronic equipment housings, to an extremely large chamber for subsea control equipment and buoyancy for oilrig risers.
