The NHC is proud of its management or partnering in a huge variety of projects over the past 20 years. Clients have included:

Ministry of Defence, various Navies, HSE (Health and Safety Executive), British Gas, BP, KBR Vestas, Acergy, Technip, ISS, Subsea7, James Fisher Rumic, Oceanworks of Asia, Aberdeen University, NHS (National Health Service), Aker Solutions, IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association), Bae Systems.

A list of projects previously undertaken at the NHC include:

Submarine Rescue Systems and Life Support Systems

  • NATO Submarine Rescue System - Participation in the NATO Submarine Rescue System Pre-feasibility study NIAG SG/36 1992 (member of the Concept Team).
  • LR5 rescue submarine, Transfer Under Pressure operations - Contract to provide documentation for the development of a Safety Case for LR5 TUP operations. The objectives of this contract were to conduct initial studies into the requirements and implications to achieve a full safety case study for LR5 TUP operations.
  • Submarine Escape Decompression Chamber - Compilation of an outline technical proposal for the specification, development and production of a Submarine Escape Decompression Chamber System for the reception of LR5 and subsequent handling of evacuees under pressure. This proposal was submitted to Rumic Ltd inclusive of full budgetary cost data and the concept accepted by the MOD as being the preferred method of recovery.
  • Submarine Escape and Rescue - Contract for MOD to carry out a Strategic Review of Submarine Escape and Rescue Procedures.
  • Submarine Charging system - Provision of Submarine Charging system and Portable Heliox dive systems, mating skirts plus diving related equipment.

Hyperbaric Oxygen

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy unit - Contract with the Health Services to provide continuous support for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This facility is in support of diving operations as well as routine medical cases and because of this the treatment complex has category 1 monitoring and support capability.

Diving Consultancy

  • Diving consultancy - The NHC provides this service to many clients world wide, by evaluating, reviewing and advising on dive systems specification, dive procedures, safety, relevant regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Provision of procedures and training for diving in contaminated waters

Diver Training

  • Saturation Training Programme for the Korean Navy (ROKN) - Training of divers, supervisors, life support personnel, technicians and doctors.
  • Diver assessments - full training courses and diver assessments against IMCA, or other appropriate standards, for military and commercial operations world-wide.
  • Development of diver and dive related training programmes for in-country qualifications or assessments

Advice to windfarm owners of their obligations under the Diving at Work regulations, auditing of contractors and their procedures and equipment.
